Manchester United can confirm Dan Ashworth is to leave his role as sporting director of the club. After just five months in the job.

Ashworth joined United on July 1 following his role at Newcastle United. But his transition to management was not smooth and the decision was eventually made to leave the club.

It was agreed to leave Ashworth in a meeting with Omar Berrada after Saturday’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe was reportedly involved in the decision and that United had initiated it. The club confirmed in a statement that the contract had been terminated by mutual consent.

“Dan Ashworth will leave his role as sporting director of Manchester United by mutual consent,” the club said in a statement. Ashworth will

oversee the performance, recruitment and football management of the club, while technical director Jason Wilcox will report to him. Ashworth

will also report directly to Barreda, who took over as CEO in the สมัคร ufabet summer.

It took Ashworth quite a while to get to United, having first informed Newcastle of his desire to move to Old Trafford in February.

Negotiations failed to progress, with Ashworth reportedly looking to arbitration to help him find a solution.

Newcastle wanted £20m in compensation, but United were unwilling to pay that sum, with a deal eventually agreed between £2m and £3m.
